Doughnut holes made with just Greek yoghurt and self raising flour…um sign me up! Oh and they are made in the air fryer, so no oil!
DO THEY TASTE LIKE DOUGHNUTS?
I’m not going to tell you that they taste exactly like doughnuts, but they are a great substitute. This 2 ingredient dough is very versatile and can be used to make naan bread and even pizza. Once the doughnut holes are round in melted butter and cinnamon sugar they definitely taste more like doughnuts. Dip them in melted chocolate or Biscoff sauce and you have a easy, sweet snack perfect for sharing!
HOW DOES THIS MYSTICAL 2 INGREDIENT DOUGH WORK?
It’s not magic but you certainly feel like you have created some kind of sorcery once the dough has come together. The Greek yoghurt asks as a binder and creates a smooth but very sticky dough. So be warned, the dough is very sticky and you will have to dust your hands and the surface you are working on with flour. No proofing time needed here as this dough does not require any yeast. This is why it is very important that you use self raising flour.
TIPS FOR MAKING 2 INGREDIENT DOUGHNUT HOLES
- Keep your hands dusted with flour, this dough is very sticky.
- Wrap the dough not being used in cling film to stop in drying out.
- If you want equal sized doughnut holes, weigh each ball on a scale.
- Test batch a few dough balls in the air fryer to get the right time for your air fryer.
- Brush with melted butter and roll in cinnamon sugar and eat whilst nice and fresh.
HOW TO SERVE THIS BEAUTIES?
I personally have an obsession with sticking my desserts on kebab sticks and dunking them in sauce…but thats just me. They also look great served on a plate with the dunking sauce in the middle. You could even but a selection of sauces in the middle for your guests to dive into.
