Why should I make these Nutella French toast bites?

There are so many reasons you should make these delicious French toast bites, here’s some of them below:

  1. They are perfect for a Valentine’s day breakfast or brunch.
  2. You can’t have Valentine’s day without Nutella.
  3. You can turn it into a French toast fondue! Either warm Nutella or melt some chocolate and dip the French toast bites, strawberries and any other fruit you like.
  4. The are easy to make and who doesn’t like French toast and Nutella…

Equipment you will need…

This recipe is so easy to make but you will need a Heart shape cookie cutter to make the job a lot faster. Do not try and cut them out with a knife…trust me. I used a 5cm heart shape cookie cutter which gave me the perfect French toast bites.

How do I make these Nutella French toast bites?

  • Cut a white bread loaf with 2cm thick slices. The size of the loaf of  bread will determine how many heart shapes you will get. The heart shape cutter I used was 5cm.
  • Once you have cut out all the heart shape pieces of bread, let them become stale before you dip them in the egg mix. If the bread is very fresh it might take 1 hour.
  • To make the egg mix, add the milk, egg and sugar in a mixing bowl. Mix using a whisk to combine.
  • Dip the stale pieces of bread in the egg mix, add a little oil (so they do not get soggy) in a frying pan. Fry on a low heat until each side is golden brown.
  • Sprinkle 4 tbsp of caster sugar and 1tsp of cinnamon onto a plate, cover the warm French toast bites in the sugar.
  • Add the Nutella into a piping bag, then make a hole in the top of the heart French toast bites. Fill each one with Nutella.
  • To make them extra special, serve them with a side of Nutella and strawberries.
