Ingredients
- 100g salted butter
- 280g caster sugar
- 3 eggs
- 160g self raising flour
- 60g cocoa powder
- 200ml boiling water
- 2 jars of 400g smooth Biscoff spread (You should only need approximately one and half jars of Biscoff for the entire cake)
- Optional - 4 Biscoff biscuits
Instructions
Easy Six Ingredient Chocolate Cake
- Boil the kettle.
- Cream room temperature butter and sugar together. It will not become creamy, don't worry you are doing it right.
- Add one egg at a time, mix using electric beaters.
- Fold in half the sifted flour using a spatula, then fold in the remaining flour.
- Mix together the cocoa powder and boiling water in a separate bowl. Let it sit for 2 mins.
- Pour half the cocoa mixture into the cake batter. Fold into the cake mixture using a spatula until combined. Then repeat with the remaining cocoa mixture.
- Line two 6" cake tins, pour in the cake batter.
- Bake in the oven for 22-25 mins at 180c fan.
Assemble and decorate
- Once the cakes have cooled, cut off the tops to make them flat.
- Optional - simple syrup the cake layers to make them more moist.
- Spread a layer of Biscoff on top of the 1st cake layer.
- Turn the second cake layer upside down and place it on top.
- Spread Biscoff spread all over the cake in a messy pattern. I recommend adding the Biscoff in a bowl and heating it in the microwave for 10 seconds to loosen it before spreading it on the cake. I used 1 and a half jars of Biscoff in total for the inside and outside of the cake. You will not need the whole 2 jars.
- Optional - crush 4 Biscoff biscuits and sprinkle them around the edge of the cake.
